Two years and four months later, Sasuke's brother Itachi, killed his whole clan, but not Sasuke, no one was sure why.  This time though, it was Sasuke that was left all alone, with no one, and for the first time ever, he knew how Naruto felt every time he went home to an empty house. Of course, being the arrogant bastard that he is, he didn't see it that way, and continued to ignore Naruto via his mother's wishes, and his own shreads of sanity.

He didn't tell anyone at school what had happened, though all the sensai's knew, but they didn't talk to him about it, because he had gone into a psyciatric frenzy determined to be the best, and the strongest ninja there ever was, in order to kill his brother and avenge his clan. So he (tried) to become the very best student there ever was, and thought that he was, even though he was constantly trying to improve himself, for his brother.

As for Naruto, he continued to be shunned by everyone except Hinata, who didn't talk to him anyway, because, well she was so shy! The most she could manage was a "G-g-good-m-morning N-Naruto" once a week, and on his birthday, which was a completely bogus day anyway. What with every one shunning and hitting him twice as much as usual. And trying to kill, him... Although that's off the record, the older kids were just drunk, they didn't mean all those threats.

They saw each other every day, but they might as well have been on different planets.
